The Death Penalty

Death penalty reinstated despite juror's use of Bible quotes

SAN FRANCISCO - A federal appeals court has reinstated the death sentence for a convicted murderer, even though a juror used Bible quotes during sentencing.

This issue is so volatile in our nation.  Those who read the Bible know that God instituted the death penalty thousands of years ago because it is good for society.  Those who do not read the Bible consider themselves to be smarter than God.  Consider what else the Bible says of them:

Romans 1:20-23 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: (21) Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. (22) Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, (23) And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

These same people who are too smart for faith profess themselves to be wise - and so are fools.  They also declare that any form of religion is a good as another, accepting corruptible gods as equal or greater than the incorruptible, eternal All-wise One.  Pray that their darkened hearts may truly see the light before it is too late for their souls and the souls they will destroy.

Back to the death penalty.  It is simple.  Those who kill should be killed.  We should not prolong their lives in a jail where they get more rights and privileges than the poor in our society.  For many criminals, jail is a boost up in lifestyle.  Three meals a day, cable TV, routine exercise, free healthcare, and time to think.  It's a better life than they have on the streets.  Where's justice in that?
