The head of a pro-Israel ministry is frustrated that President Bush recently reiterated a statement he made four years ago -- that all religions, including Islam, pray to the same God.
When the President is deceived, he makes statements to the nation - deceiving those who follow him. This is a prevailing belief that is countered by the Scriptures. Allah is NOT the I AM. Jesus Christ IS. There are huge differences in not only beliefs, but the truths that underlie Biblical Christianity - which, mind you, predates Islam by a few thousand years. The loving message of Christianity is not found as part of Islam.
The thought that all roads lead to heaven is a folly and a lie. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father but by me" (John 14:6). Eastern Mysticism (Hinduism, Buddhism, Shinotoism) denies the Father AND the Son. So do the beliefs of primitive cultures (Native Americans, Africans, and tribal portions of South and Central America), who worship nature in one way or another. Many other religions claim a god, but they don't claim the God of the Bible as their own - therefore they have their own OTHER god.
Some think that this concept is setting the stage for the return of Christ (one world religion). I'm not sure they are wrong. It is certainly part of the great darkness, deception, and falling away that is predicted biblically. It's not hard to see through the deception - unless you are unwilling to.

Greg,
I'd agree with the entire post except the last line--" It's not hard to see through the deception"
Jesus taught us that the gate is narrow, the way is hard, and few will find it.
With everything that the world has been taught, overcoming all of those deceptions, setting aside what you've come to know as truth--is hard! If one accepts Jesus as Lord and Savior when they are young, then they don't have as many false beliefs to overcome. If a person is older, there are a whole lot more deceptions that must be overcome--both for the unbeliever and for the one sharing Salvation in Jesus.
If it were easy to believe, it wouldn't be faith.
John,
You make a great point. I suppose a better choice of words on my last line should have been "It's not complicated to believe." Faith is simple, not complicated. "Hard" is not the same as "complicated" as I've said often enough to others.
Those who wish to know the truth can see it simply enough when it's presented. Working at it won't get it. Faith and works are contrary to one another.
Nevertheless, I'm sure there are those who struggle with this concept. Faith is trust - and trust can be hard or easy - but it's never complicated. May we submit to the simple - and not be deceived.
