The Decline of a Denomination

TIRANA, Albania - Albania, a former communist nation which is now majority Muslim, has officially recognized the United Methodist Church.

Doesn't this just highlight the direction of many mainline denominations? There are several steps in the move to unbiblical Christianity:

1. Reject the clear teaching of the Bible. The time-honored doctrines are disavowed; the Bible ceases to be the central text of the messages; Biblical authority denied in place of experience.
2. Ordain women. I'm not trying to be cheauvenistic, but all falling denominations have this common denominator that comes directly from first doing #1 above.
3. Embrace homosexuality. This means believing that active homosexuality is somehow compatible with Christianity. This step is another common denominator, and generally follows #2. I have not got a single example of this one preceding #2.
4. Ordain practicing homosexuals. This is the final stage of the fall. When a denomination has gotten to this point, churches will split from the denomination because it is so very unbiblical.
