Why Biblical Commentary on Political Things Is Important

1 Timothy 4:1-2  Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;  (2)  Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

Don’t miss the truth about what is to come.  Don’t be among those who depart from the faith; who give heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils  as the King James Version puts it.  Your conscience will be seared with a hot iron.   These are the things that come in the latter times and we see them happening all around us if our eyes are opened to it.  Let me invite you to check out some of the news sites listed on the side.  They tell the stories that the secular, liberal news media ignore – and often the websites I recommend reveal the hypocrisy and lies behind the scandals, decisions of politicians, and even liberal church leaders.

I have been criticized for not simply sticking to the gospel in my commentary.  Let me respond by saying that if the Lord seeks to warn us in His Word, we should heed Him.  If I am a true preacher of the Word, then I cannot ignore this warning, nor fail to proclaim it.  Perhaps someone will be rescued from the deceit that is all around us.  It is definitely within the scope of the Will of God that there be some who are prevented from this impending disaster.  So I preach on, and I try to expose the lies in the media and all around us.  It is my responsibility, given by God.  I pray He will enable me to be more effective with it.  For His glory I have been given discernment (a spiritual gift) and chance to preach (also a spiritual gift).  Dare I neglect this gift and the salvation whereby it was given?

Holler for Jesus,

Greg Yount
