Why Prayer for Politicians is Needed

Apparently, what goes for Presidents also goes for judges these days: one never means what one says as surely as one never does what one did. When Bill Clinton was impeached, he didn't mean what he said, and he certainly did NOT have sex with Monica Lewinski (nor did he inhale when he smoked marijuana); and it all depends on what the meaning of "is" is. With Supreme Court nominees, NOTHING they say actually means what they say.

It seems to me that since the inauguration of President Obama, the nonsense from Washington is rolling faster than ever by more and more of our nation's government leaders. Why is that so? Read the following article by commentator Kelly Boggs (it puts the whole thing into perspective): Blind Leading the Blind

I exhort, therefore, that, first of all, prayers, intercession, and giving of thanks be made for all men; for kings and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; who will have all men to be saved and come unto the knowledge of the truth. (1Timothy 2:1-4)

Yes, I must pray for them - and so should you. We need for them to be saved and come unto the knowledge of the truth so that others whom they lead will also. We need their leadership to reflect godliness and honesty - something frightfully lacking today. We need lives to settle down to what matters. So the hard part is at the front of the passage - to give thanks for these sightless leaders. I suppose we should - for when God converts them (because we ask Him to by prayer) - glorious things happen and God gets the honor for it all. That is the Divine hope!
