As I See It - Random Issues

Today’s post – random thoughts on the political scene, Americans, self

This blog is designed to give a Biblical perspective on current events.  Unfortunately, the Biblical perspective does not offer much positive with the way things are going.  Fortunately, the Biblical perspective does offer positive solutions – and accurate diagnoses.

1.        Presidential Debate # 2 – Both candidates came out blasting – and neither candidate demonstrated respect for either the moderator or one another.  When it came to the issues, Obama seemed more confident, but Romney had his facts straight.  Obama’s slant on the facts showed a willingness to use sneaky language to distort the truth – I wouldn’t trust him as far as I could throw him.  Romney’s facts were true, but not always delivered with panache, making them “less palatable.”  I can see the undecided going either way, depending on their bent.  Obama is slick and can successfully deceive the fuzzy-minded.  Unfortunately, this means our nation may have to face another 4 years of deception and degradation of our economy, international relations, and watch our personal freedoms erode into socialism – for the betterment of our people (tongue in cheek).  For this reason we should pray for our leaders.  Specifically we should pray for them to be convicted in their souls to do what is right, not what is personally beneficial.

2.       Americans – Americans do not seem to be as interested in truth or fact as they are in showmanship and entertainment.  Debates should be about ideas.  Last night was about aggressiveness.  Americans were either turned on by the unstatesmanlike demeanor of both candidates, turned off by it all together, or they recognized that the ideas are not clearly being discussed.  Likewise, the Biblical perspective calls on Bible-believing Americans to pray for one another.  My prayer is that we would be vocally unappreciative of the candidates’ actions, demand more discussion of ideas, and open themselves to the truth above all.

3.       Self – I find discussion about political topics easier and more appropriate for public consumption than I do my personal feelings because people are so divided to begin with.  When I reveal my personal feelings, others may get hurt.  Jesus said to take our cares to Him.
