BENJAMIN NETANYAHU BRINGS THE BIBLE TO LIFE

The “net” is abuzz about Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to a joint session of Congress yesterday.  Did you watch it?  You should if you haven’t.  It’s a lesson in public speaking, statesmanship, international relations, and truth-telling.  It also demonstrates the strong relationship that Christians have with Jews.

One of the most striking things that I enjoyed most about his speech was his reference to the Old Testament book of Esther, and the beginning of the Feast of Purim.  The clear historical link between the troubles of Biblical Israel and the current troubles they face today.  He literally brought the Bible to life, As I See It.

And that takes me to the point I’d like to make in trying to look at the whole thing from a Christian perspective.  Bringing the Bible alive as he did, he unknowingly also brings the New Testament alive.  The truth is, the reason the Jews were saved in Esther’s time was so they could bring to the world the Messiah, Jesus Christ.  And the prophecy exists that one day, all of Israel will recognize that the Jesus they had crucified was indeed the Messiah they have waited for since Esther’s time and before.  For that reason, I believe, Christians should expect that whether the USA stands by Israel or not, Israel will survive this crisis until Jesus returns to reign on earth – for then they will see their long-awaited Messiah clearly and trust in Him.

For those of you who think this is old-fashioned nonsense, consult a Bible today and see if God hasn’t proven Himself faithful to His prophecies.  You will find enough of them fulfilled to date to trust that those few that await fulfillment will be done through to the letter like all that have gone before.  Then put your trust in Jesus as the Messiah and Savior He is.  Your life will not be the same if you let Him lead you through to the end.  If you refuse, doubt, or reject the ideas here, rest assured – that won’t stop these prophecies from coming to fruition.  And one day, you WILL bow before Jesus Christ.  I simply want you to do it willingly rather than in the day of judgment.  May the Lord bless you for giving this a real consideration today.

There is so much more I would like to say about the speech, but pundits are all doing that quite well.  For now, I will say that I trust Benjamin Netanyahu’s analysis of the threat more than I do our President’s.  I only know that his fears of the survival of Israel are unfounded – for his God will see to his country’s protection, as God has done through the ages.  It is America’s doom that is really on the line, for the Bible also says as part of God’s promise to Abraham, “I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed." (Genesis 12:3)
